San Juan County, Shiprock, NM

Owner – NMDOT

Contract Amount - $34,381,844

Estimated Start – May 2025

Estimated Completion – Fall 2026

US 64, in the extreme northwest corner of the state, is a rural highway within the traditional lands of the Navajo Nation. Once complete, the project will enhance mobility, improve safety and generate regional economic growth.
The project will replace two bridges, Rattlesnake bridge at MP 20, as well as Shiprock bridge at MP 14. Six-to-8-foot shoulders will be added to the new bridges, making them consistent with the rest of the US 64 corridor. The project also includes reconstruction of the roadway in the surrounding area of the bridge. In total, nearly 2 miles of roadway will be reconstructed.
